The story behind the art:
Carpet weaving as an art travelled to India with Persian artisans who found patronage in the royal courts here. There are various kinds of carpets including hand tufted, hand knotted, hand weaved, etc. Amongst these, hand knotted are of the highest quality, and are easily identifiable by looking at the underside of the carpet, where the knots can clearly be seen, and the design on the top side is clearly visible even on the underside.
